My Heart Aches for Los Angeles
The devastation from the recent disaster is overwhelming, and I feel a deep sense of helplessness from afar. It's especially heartbreaking to see the stark contrast in how these events impact different communities. The resources available in areas like the Palisades are a world away from those in Altadena, highlighting the deep inequalities that exist within the city. While I know my offer to help rebuild physical spaces may seem small in the face of such immense loss, I genuinely wish to be of service. Perhaps there are ways to lend my design skills and experience to aid in the recovery, even from a distance. I'm particularly interested in finding ways to support those communities that are most vulnerable and may not have the same access to resources.
Having lived in LA in 2006/2007 and worked with Marmol Radziner, I have a profound appreciation for the unique beauty, community and architecture throughout the city. I can only imagine the impact this tragedy has had on the residents. I'm here for you LA.
With Love,
Allison
